This year, the HFM conference took place in Davis Ca, where a tranquil setting provided a contrasting backdrop to the many heated discussions. From the nature of excitations in the Kagome lattice, to the interactions in α-RuCl3, to the ground state in YbMgGaO4, there was excitement in several aspects of frustrated systems.

I presented our work on pressure-induced phase transition in Kitaev materials at March Meeting in LA. With a number of sessions aimed directly at bond-frustrated systems and materials with strong spin-orbit coupling, the whole week provided many learning opportunities and productive discussions.

At the beginning of the year I visited the Center for Physical Sciences and Technology in Vilnius, Lithuania and gave a seminar on Quantum Magnets. Thanks to Mažena Mackoit for the pictures.
